Real Techniques Brushes + iHerb.com - REVIEW

Real Techniques brushes are created by Samantha Chapman from the popular YouTube channel Pixiwoo. I love these girls, there videos are really great and I learn new ways to apply makeup from them. These brushes have been out for a long time, but I didn't have the urge to rush out and buy them because I owned some from Coastal Scents. I brought my brushes when I first got into make up and at that time Coastal Scent brushes were really popular. While they did a good job, and I had them for about three years, they have been dying on my slowly. The shedding was going banana's on the stippling brush and so I thought it was about time to buy some better ones.

I was debating whether I should buy the Real Techniques or the Sigma synthetic kabuki set. In the end I went for the Real Techniques because they are more affordable to me. Here is the catch, they are more affordable if you purchase them online than buying them from Priceline if you live in Australia. I brought mine from iHerb.com which sell them for there retail price. Plus shipping is not that crazy compared to other online sites that ship to Australia. Plus if you use this coupon code HCD934 you get $10 off your first order of $40 or more, if you spend less than $40 than you get $5. I think that is a good deal. I brought nearly all the brushes but I will be reviewing them separately.

Real Techniques - your base/flawless core collection
iHerb.com Price: $17.99
Priceline's Price: $44.99
Made in: China
These brushes are made with 'ultra smooth' taklon bristles. They are just so so soft, no scratchy feeling at all, you can really tell that they are good quality. I have had them for about two months and washed them about six times I haven't had any issues with shedding or dye bleeding. I also found that these brushes dry super fast.
The core collection contains the following four full-sized brushes:
Contour Brush: delicately applies highlighter to contour or create sheer, soft-focus finish.
I use this for applying blush and highlighter, I still haven't gotten the art of contouring but I'm trying. Just like all of the Real Technique brushes this is really soft.

Pointed Foundation Brush: use with liquid foundation to build custom coverage.
This is just way too small for foundation. I have used it that much, but I do use it for concealer under the eyes.

Detailer Brush: precision cut to effortlessly conceal problem areas; or, use with lipstick for long-lasting shape and definition.
A really tiny brush, I use this to cover any blemishes that I sometimes get. I did use it as a lipstick brush not really something that I would go for.

Buffing Brush: ideal for full coverage application of powder and mineral foundation.
My favorite brush in this set. This is meant for powder, but I use it for liquid foundation and BB creams. The finish it gives is really nice and natural. If you enlarge the photo you can see that there are some bristles that are slightly longer than the rest. I do feel like they are a tad bit scratchy on my face so I cut them down and now it's so soft.

These brushes are really great value for money and I highly recommend them for any one who is starting out with make up or is on a budget.

Love,
Sakura
